Privacy and POPIA

Privacy notice

EG Africa respects your privacy and processes personal information in line with applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This notice explains the information used by this website and the EG Cars operations system.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, including your name, email address, phone number, account credentials, role, vehicle details, booking requests, workshop records, inspections, quotations, invoices, payments, driver and mechanic payout records, contracts and messages. For mobile service and vehicle protection, records may include the service address, location coordinates you choose to share, mileage, fuel level, existing damage, vehicle contents, diagnostic reports, photographs, completion evidence and bank-payment proof. Technical security records may include session identifiers, sign-in attempts, audit events and basic request information used to protect the service.

Why we use it

Information is used to provide requested services, manage client and staff accounts, schedule and complete automotive work, issue and reconcile invoices, communicate service updates, secure the platform, comply with legal duties and improve reliable operations. We limit use to purposes connected to the service or otherwise permitted by law.

Sharing and operators

Access is limited by role. We may use trusted operators for cloud hosting, transactional communication and payment processing. They receive only the information needed to perform their service and are expected to protect it. We do not sell personal information.

Security, cookies and retention

EG Cars uses hashed passwords, protected sessions, role-based authorization, private file storage, audit records, rate limits and optional two-factor authentication. Vehicle evidence, contracts and payment records are available only to authorized roles or specifically assigned accounts. The website uses essential session cookies for signed-in portal access; it does not require advertising cookies. Records are retained only for operational, contractual, accounting, security and legal needs, then deleted or de-identified when no longer required.

Your rights

You may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access or correction, object to certain processing, request deletion where legally appropriate, or raise a concern. Some records may need to be retained where the law or an active service relationship requires it.

Contact and complaints

For privacy requests, contact info@eg-africa.co.za. You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator through its official channels.
